Google Gives Rest to Leaks and Officially Shows the Pixel Fold!
Lately, we have seen a number of leaks around Google’s first foldable phone, hinting at its arrival at this year’s Google I/O event. Google decided to put all of these to rest and a few days ahead of the event has now showcased the Pixel Fold in its full glory, also confirming the phone’s name for the very first time. Check it out right here!
This Is the Google Pixel Fold!
Google took to Twitter and posted a short teaser video of the Pixel Fold with the ‘May 4’ Star Wars reference. It is a foldable phone that will fold horizontally and will give competition to the SamsungGalaxy Z Fold 4(also the upcomingGalaxy Z Fold 5), which corroboratespast rumors. There’s a livemicrositeon the Google Store too.
The phone has a design akin to that of thePixel 7 Prowith the same camera setup at the back, so, there’s nothing new here. What might catch your attention is thethick bezels around the display, which can be a bit jarring. The subtle gold color is pretty attractive, though. What’s underneath hasn’t still been confirmed. But this should be solved soon as the phone is all set to launch on May 10, as guessed. This should happen alongside the launch of thePixel 7a, thePixel Tablet, and possibly the new Pixel Buds.
Nonetheless, we have a hint of what the Pixel Fold could serve on our plates. It is expected to be powered by theTensor G2 chipsetwith the Titan M2 chip. We can expect a 7.6-inch primary OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a 5.8-inch outer screen, also with support for a 120Hz refresh rate.
The camera array could be upgraded and include a48MP main snapper, a 10.8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 10.8MP telephoto lens. Expect an 8MP selfie shooter on the inner screen and a 9.5MP shooter on the outer one. It will most likely run Android 14 but Android 13 is also expected.
As is the case with most foldable phones, it can be expensive and cost around$1,799 (~ Rs 1,47,000). Aprevious leaksuggests that the Pixel Fold will be made available on June 27, so, you might not have to wait for longer to get your hands on Google’s first foldable smartphone. That said, official details are still behind the veil and it would be best to wait for them until next week. We will be closely covering the event, hence, don’t forget to tune in for all theGoogle I/O 2023updates you need!
